Introducing 2021 IECC Essentials
BER is proud to announce a new training opportunity: The 2021 IECC Essentials Training. This deep dive into the content of the International Energy Conservation Code is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to have a better understanding of the 2021 IECC and energy codes in general. Throughout the training, students will learn about the history of energy codes, how to navigate the IECC, and an overview of the most significant changes in the 2021 IECC, as well as gain an understanding of how to demonstrate compliance with the code.

History of Energy Codes
Learn the history of energy codes and why they were established. Start at the beginning with the first building code organizations that led to the development of the International Code Council (ICC).

IECC Navigation
With 2 sets of provisions and 6 chapters for each, the IECC provides comprehensive building requirements for energy efficiency. While it can seem like a lot, this lesson will cover:
- Where to access the IECC
- The structure and applicability of the code
- Summary of each chapter within the code
Significant Changes to the 2021 IECC
The 2021 IECC puts us on a path towards zero energy building and marks the biggest increase in energy performance in the model code since the 2012 IECC. Learn what updates were made and understand how they impact building design, plan review, inspection, and efficiency specifications.
Code Compliance: What Does that Look Like?
With all the various ways compliance can be met, how do you know if you’ve actually met compliance? Gain a deeper understanding of:
- What compliance looks like for each of the 3 compliance paths including requirements for permits, inspections, and documentation submittals
- How compliance would look using modeling software, specifically Ekotrope and RESCheck
