BER is seeking an experienced professional within the home energy rating industry to serve as an Energy Modeler. This individual will primarily support our Professional Support Services (ProServ) team by performing energy modeling, HVAC design, and technical administration services.

Candidates shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • High degree of computer literacy, including fluency in MS Windows, Office, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with and performing takeoffs using architectural and engineering plans, details and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of building science, HVAC, construction, energy efficiency programs and industry standards
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in customer service and support


Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • Significant experience as a HERS energy modeler, having rated at least 25 homes using REM/Rate, Ekotrope, EnergyGauge, etc.
  • Manual J, S, D, and T modeling experience and/or ACCA certification, using Wrightsoft and/or Elite
  • Commercial energy auditing/modeling experience using eQuest, BEOpt, COMcheck, OpenStudio, Trane Trace, TRN, IES, WUFI
  • RESNET / AEE / NATE / LEED / PHIUS / NAHB / IR, etc. certifications
  • Architectural or engineering degree or professional certification
  • Knowledge and experience with field tools (blower door, duct blaster, IR, etc.), and performing field inspections, data collection and verification
  • Current RESNET QAD certification


Additional information:

  • In this position, BER employees enjoy the ability to work from the comfort of their home office in a virtual setting. However, travel may be required up to one month per year.



BER is seeking a technical administrative assistant with strong personal and computer skills to aid us in achieving our mission by supporting our Administrative, Technical, and Professional Services teams.

This part-time position will begin at 20 hours per week and may increase quickly. The position will require working from a home office, in a virtual environment and requires the ability to prioritize work, stay focused, stay on task, and be highly productive without direct supervision. This position also has significant potential for rapid advancement, opportunities, and expansion into new areas of interest, depending on the candidate.


Primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • communicating with other staff members in support of their roles and responsibilities
  • communicating with clients, vendors and programs
  • processing virtual client order intake and delivery
  • monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
  • database and server management and maintenance
  • map and calendar management and maintenance
  • managing, developing, and maintaining internal and external processes and procedures


Candidates shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • excellent English language communication skills, both written and verbal
  • high degree of computer literacy, including fluency in MS Office Suite
  • data entry & database management experience
  • must type at least 40-50 words per minute; candidate will be tested via online exam
  • strong research and organizational skills
  • independent, self-starter required
