Next, gain hands-on experience in the field as you complete your HERS Probationary Ratings. On the final day, you’ll take part in ENERGY STAR-specific field that will provide you invaluable insights that can only be learned hands-on in the field. This field day is designed to set you up for success, giving you the hands-on experience you need to confidently inspect and verify your first ENERGY STAR home. With that real-world practice under your belt, tackling the proctored online exams on your own time will feel much more manageable.

5 Days of Excellent Training
Start your HERS journey with a full week of comprehensive training and field lessons!
Day 1:
Put your online training into action in the field! You'll walk through the process with a BER trainer by your side and complete your first Probationary Rating.
Day 2:
We'll begin with a review for the RESNET HERS Practical Simulation Exam, followed by the proctored test. After lunch, we'll focus on preparing for the RESNET HERS National Rater Exam.
Day 3:
Take the proctored HERS National Rater Exam, then review for and complete the RESCAZ Simulation Exam. After lunch, we will begin modeling one of the ratings from plans.
Day 4:
We will wrap up the last 2 Probationary Ratings in the field.
Day 5:
Gain hands-on experience by applying ENERGY Star Single-Family training in the field.
After the week-long training, you’ll complete two additional Probationary Ratings using plans provided to you from BER. You’ll also model energy ratings for the three field training projects and submit them to BER for approval—essential steps toward earning your HERS Rater Certification. Plus, this package covers the cost of the ENERGY STAR proctored exams, which you can complete at your convenience after training.
