BER Green Building Program Specialist


Building Efficiency Resources (BER) is a national energy efficiency training and quality assurance organization. As a RESNET Quality Assurance and Training Provider, our mission is to provide our clients with industry-leading technical and customer support, while maintaining the highest standards in our industry.

BER is seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in green building and energy efficiency program certifications, including LEED (for Homes, BD&C, etc.), National Green Building Standard (NGBS), Enterprise Green Communities, ENERGY STAR (Certified Homes, Multifamily, Buildings, etc.), PHIUS+, HERS ratings, etc. This individual will be expected to serve as the key individual in charge of developing and managing business opportunities for BER and its rater clients to serve developers, homebuilders, architecture/engineering firms in achieving program certification standards.

This full-time position will require working primarily from a home office, in a virtual environment and requires the ability to work independently, prioritize work, stay focused, on task, and highly productive without direct supervision. The position will also require national travel up to 3 months per year.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Management of projects being performed under government and utility green building and energy efficiency programs.
  • Completion and submission of RPFs & RFQs for government and utility green building and energy efficiency programs.
  • Developing, pursuing and securing contracts to provide green building certification services, particularly in the realm of affordable housing and low-income housing tax credit (LITHC).
  • Serving as lead project manager in green building certification services.
  • Developing and managing program-specific Provider services, such as LEED for Homes.
  • Developing and delivering presentations on energy efficiency and green building topics.
  • Serving as a field representative for BER in client meetings and project field verification.
  • Providing green building program technical support to BER staff and clientele.

Candidates shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Excellent sales and customer service background.
  • Experience with successfully responding to and bidding on green building project and program RFQs and RFPs.
  • High degree of professional experience in achieving project certification for various national energy efficiency and green building certification standards.
  • Experience in project management and oversight of staff, subcontractors, etc.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including fluency in MS Windows, Office, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness and ability to work independently from home, as well as to travel to deliver trainings nationally.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • RESNET Certified QAD, Rater, etc.
  • LEED professional certifications (BD&C, Homes Green Rater, QAD, etc.)
  • NGBS, PHIUS+, ENERGY STAR, etc. Verifier.
  • Residential and commercial energy modeling experience.
  • Project management certifications and/or project management database management experience.
  • Commercial/industrial energy efficiency auditing experience.

BER Lead Trainer and Curriculum Development Specialist


Building Efficiency Resources (aka “The BER”) is a national energy efficiency training and quality assurance organization. As a third-party RESNET Quality Assurance and Training Provider, our mission is to provide our clients with industry-leading technical and customer support, while maintaining the highest standards in our industry.

BER is seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in energy efficiency professional training for adult learners to serve as our lead national trainer. This individual will be expected to serve as the key individual in charge of developing and maintaining training curricula, as well as serve as a field trainer for classroom trainings. This full-time position will require working primarily from a home office, in a virtual environment and requires the ability to work independently, prioritize work, stay focused, on task, and highly productive without direct supervision. The position will also require national travel up to 4 months per year.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Delivering in-person classroom trainings on building science, energy efficiency, green building and related standards to adult learners.
  • Delivering online live and on-demand training webinars and modules.
  • Developing online, classroom and field training curricula, including presentation slides, training videos, course evaluations, quizzes, materials.
  • Participating in the development and submittal of proposals and applications for training RFPs and RFQS.
  • Delivering seminar presentations at regional and national conferences and meetings.

Candidates shall possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Experience and proficiency with LMS tools and suites.
  • Experience and proficiency using Camtasia Studio.
  • High degree of computer literacy, including fluency in MS Windows, Office, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with developing and delivering energy efficiency training content to adults.
  • Willingness and ability to work independently from home, as well as to travel to deliver trainings nationally.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

  • RESNET Certified QAD, Rater, etc.
  • BPI certifications (BA, EP, MF, HP, AC, EA, QCI, etc.)
  • IECC Residential Inspector/Plans Examiner certification
  • Residential and/or commercial construction background
  • Residential energy modeling experience
  • Professional experience in the field, conducting HERS ratings, energy code verifications, existing home energy evaluations, etc.
  • Commercial/industrial energy efficiency auditing experience
